Darling Dining!

I’m so excited to start sharing different rooms, the very few, within my apartment which I just adore. Over the next few posts, I will give you a walk-through of my favorite spots in my 1 bed, 1 bath, 850-square foot Hamilton Heights gem, my humble abode.  We did one walk-through of the occupied apartment and immediately fell head-over-heels for it (you’ll see why in the photos)! After a long, and expensive process (Broker fees in NYC are ridiculous), it was finally ours, our first “home” together.

I just had so many ideas to decorate each room, which is a true passion of mine.  I’d say the style of my interior decor choice is very modern, feminine and clean mixing vintage pieces in a modern setting and color scheme.

One thing Wayne (my very handsome, loving and supportive boyfriend of almost 4 years) and I love to do in our home is host dinner parties with our closest friends.  What’s a dinner party without a dining room?  Yes, in NYC, we finally had a dining room which fits a table, chairs and bar cart! This place is actually heaven!

The round dining room table we purchased off of Craigslist, it’s Ikea Ingatorp that can expand to seat 6, for only $40!

These gorgeous tufted dining chairs, I purchased from Target in “Glacier”.  They come as a pair.  You’ll see from my other furniture choices that I love the elegant, tufted look in my pieces.  My recommendation is to wait until Target has a sale to purchase these before buying them full price.  Also, if you have a Target card, you get 5% off every purchase!

The soft rug was purchased from Wayfair.  I highly recommend checking this site out for quality products at a low rate.  I was a little hesitant about the rug because it ended up being the exact diameters of the table and chairs, but honestly I just love the colors in the rug and it helps the room decor flow nicely between the dining and living room.

The vintage, gold bar cart  was another steal from Target.  I got it a few years ago during a Black Friday sale and Wayne absolutely loves it.  He has a knack for crafting cocktails for our guests and it’s so fun experimenting with the different liquors and flavor combinations. A few other options: Houzz Bar Cart,  Vintage Bar Cart with Bottle Holder, and World Market Bar Cart.

Some other sites that I usually find good deals on furniture and home accessories are: World MarketJoss & MainOne Kings Lane, Christmas Tree ShopsHouzz and last but not least, Home Goods!

Thank you for stopping by and I’m so excited to keep sharing my lovely apartment with you!

Goodbye, Spring. Hello, Summer!

Happy first day of Summer everyone!

Sand, sunnies, simple dresses and skirts are some of my favorite things about summer.  I recently bought this skirt (ON SALE!) from Lord & Taylor.  I had to have this skirt to say “goodbye” to Spring and welcome Summer with open arms!  The bright colored, feminine print make this a staple piece to wear throughout Summer and I just love how it is pleated and midi length which is perfect for work, for brunch with the girls and date nights.

I just love how well this outfit pairs with my fresh pink Peonies, my favorite YSL Lipstick #7 and my newest addition, Dior Reflected Mirror Sunnies.  I cannot explain how much I love these sunnies.  They could be my favorite pair yet!

I’m very excited to see what this summer has in store!

Pink Peonies

They say, “all good things must come to an end.” As we approach the season ending of my absolute favorite flower, Peonies, I figured why not post about them in my very first blog on Creme de Lauren!

Flowers always make me feel so giddy inside.  I just love having flowers, fresh or artificial, scattered all around my apartment.  They add a special, finishing touch to any room.

Yesterday, as I was strolling through Union Square’s farmers market, I came across the most beautiful white, pale pink and fuchsia peonies.  I was in absolute heaven.  Many of you know that peonies have a very short “in-season” date so, of course I had to buy 3 bunches and I “oh’d and awh’d” while picking out the best buds.

I had the pleasure of meeting one of the farmers who was manning the booth from Hodgson’s Farm in Walden, NY.  He informed me that the prime time to buy these beauties are the last week in May through the end of June.  He works on the farm which has over 2 acres of just peonies, dreamy right?!

This gentleman also gave me a helpful tip on caring for these flowers.  He said “keep these peonies in a cool climate and fill their vases everyday with ice water and you will get a good 7-8 days of pure joy and beauty!”

Thank you for stopping by and I’m looking forward to sharing more on dreamy flowers, my fashion wardrobe, my travel excursions and my interior staples in my humble abode.
